Hello! I am Amanda, and I am Tarot Balance. I am an intuitive tarot reader and member of the Tarot Association of the British Isles. I have been reading tarot on and off since my teens and look forward to working with you to demystify the depths of your inner thoughts. For me Tarot is all about bringing balance to our lives.

The History of Tarot
Tarot is an ancient artform which some believe has origins as far back as the eleventh century in Fez, when the city was an important teaching centre for science and literature. Tarot was used as a way to document esoteric ideas. Other theories suggest that it started with the Egyptian Gypsies who passed down the word of Thoth, the God of Learning, and there are also some who believe that tarot started with the French and Italian occultists in the 1700s, when card games were adapted as a tool for predicting the future. Whichever theory you subscribe to, tarot has a mystical history. It is ultimately a system of 78 cards incorporating ancient religion, judaism, christianity, hebrew, kabbalah, greek mythology and astrology in to its wide ranging symbolism. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn adopted tarot in the UK, in the early 1900s, as a way of documenting their understanding of the many alchemic theories they were investigating. The syncratic symbolism is, in my mind, strongest in the famous Rider Waite-Smith Tarot deck which was published in 1909. It is this deck that I used to start my studies, but I now favour varying decks from time to time, including the Light Seer deck, depending on my mood. The Waite-Smith deck has become iconic and there are currently over 100 million copies in circulation worldwide. These days there are thousands of individual decks available and each individual reader will find the one they connect to most.
My Mission
My mission is to debunk the misconceptions surrounding Tarot. I personally, subscribe to the school of intuitive tarot reading, and I believe that you need true connection, compassion, intuition and insight, as well as knowledge of the symbolism in the cards. I have a passion and a belief that tarot is a valid way to uncover our truths. I don’t try to convince anyone that I can predict the future but the cards do boost active thinking around any subject and provide different perspectives on decision making which can increase the likelihood of positive outcomes. By working together we can form sensible reasoning, goals and behaviours that will ultimately help in our every day lives!
